Korea-Viet Nam Carbon Credit Exchange to Operate from September 2024
The city of Muan (Jeollanam-do province, South Korea) and the Sovia Viet Nam Carbon Credit Trading and Distribution Service Association recently held a seminar to launch the Sovia Korea-Viet Nam Carbon Credit Trading and Distribution Service Center. The Sovia Viet Nam Carbon Credit Exchange is expected to become operational by the end of September 2024.

During a meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Lê Minh Hoan on September 16, Mariam Sherman, the newly appointed World Bank (WB) Country Director for Viet Nam, stated that the WB has agreed to purchase carbon credits from a low-emission rice cultivation project. The payment mechanism will be based on the results of emissions reductions.
