On September 10, in Ha Noi, the Viet Nam Women's Union, in collaboration with the S.Korean Women's Development Institute, held the 11th Viet Nam – S.Korea Women's Forum with the theme "Green Economy and Women's Contributions."

The forum provided an opportunity to exchange information, share experiences, and discuss initiatives on the contributions of women from both countries to the green economy. It aimed to raise awareness, promote the engagement of relevant agencies, and foster cooperation to advance gender equality and green development. Additionally, it helped strengthen the understanding, collaboration, and exchanges between women from Vietnam and Korea, contributing positively to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

In her opening speech, Ms. Ha Thi Nga, President of the Viet Nam Women's Union, stated: "With the theme 'Green Economy and Women's Contributions,' closely aligned with the international agenda, this year's forum offers a valuable opportunity for women from Viet Nam and Korea to share and learn from each other, particularly in terms of initiatives that highlight the role and contributions of women in developing the green economy." For Viet Nam, S.Korea's achievements in the green economy, circular economy, gender governance, and women's empowerment in the green economy are valuable experiences for the country in its green transition.

Delegates attending the Forum

The Vietnam Women's Union and the Korean Women's Parliamentary Network signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the forum. Critical points in the MoU include maintaining the Viet Nam- S.Korea Women's Forum mechanism, exchanging information and experiences, and proposing initiatives regarding women's participation in politics and gender equality. The agreement also promotes exchange delegations and networking activities, including those involving the Viet Nam Women's Parliamentary Group and the Viet Nam-S.Korea Parliamentary Friendship Group. Additionally, the MoU emphasizes initiatives to enhance capacity building for women in both countries, particularly by connecting female parliamentarians and council members at all levels. It also calls for cooperation and mutual support at regional and international multilateral forums and cultural exchange activities to foster friendship in various fields.

Ms. Kim Jong Soog, President of the S.Korean Women's Development Institute (KWDI), expressed her hope that, following the signing of the cooperation agreement, both sides would continue to seek ways to strengthen collaboration and share experiences between Viet Nam and S.Korea to promote the role of women, especially in green development, as women are among the most affected by climate change.
