By the end of September 2024, the World Wide Fund for Nature in Viet Nam (WWF-Vietnam), through the project "Hue - Plastic Smart Cities in Central Vietnam" (TVA Project), will donate two garbage compactor trucks valued at nearly 10 billion VND to Hue City (Thua Thien - Hue Province).
As committed by WWF-Vietnam, the two trucks to be donated are the latest model of ISUZU 3-in-1 garbage compactors, meeting international standards. Each truck has an average total load of 24 tons, a power capacity of 206 kW at 2400 rpm, complies with EURO 4 emissions standards, and has a maximum speed of 76 km/h. Each truck can hold an average of 20 cubic meters of waste.
WWF-Viet Nam is expected to hand over the two trucks to Hue City by the end of September 2024. The trucks will be operated by the city's government and authorized partners. The Hue City People's Committee has agreed to handle the registration, inspection, and coordination with relevant units for maintenance and management of the vehicles, ensuring they are used exclusively for solid waste collection in the city. The trucks will be considered public assets.
The "Hue - Plastic Smart Cities in Central Viet Nam" project is funded by WWF-Norway (through WWF-Vietnam) and managed by the Hue City People's Committee. Its goal is to help protect rivers, wetlands, and coastal ecosystems from plastic waste pollution through various interventions involving public-private partnerships, civil society organizations, and local communities. The project aims to reduce plastic waste leakage by 30% by 2024.
The project, implemented over four years (2021-2024), is divided into two phases: the project launch phase (2021) and the implementation phase (2022-2024).
