The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said that the Ministry has completed and handed over the project "Restoring and completing the Cambodian National Altitude System" phase 2 for Cambodia.

The project is coordinated by the Vietnam Department of Survey, Mapping and Geographic Information - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the General Department of Cadastral and Mapping - Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction of the Kingdom of Cambodia jointly implement and use aid capital of the Government of Viet Nam.

The project "Restoring and completing the Cambodian National Altitude System" phase 2 has been organized by two ministries since 2016. The project has completed the construction items of the basic gravity grid, grade I, II, III and detailed gravity; build an additional grade I elevation network and measure the national leveling GPS network; setting up a high-precision Geoid model for the Cambodian territory; transferring equipment and machinery to Cambodia.

The project responds well to Cambodia's socio-economic development planning, contributing to building and developing the special friendship relationship between the two countries in the spirit of “good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive and long-term cooperation”.

The delivered products include: National Gravity Network of Cambodia which is measured, calculated and calibrated; The results of the correction of the Cambodian national elevation network are based on the gravity value of the standard altitude system and 04 additional grade I elevations including 137 landmarks with a length of 1446.6km; Geoid model is built based on GNSS - leveling points and earth gravity model with grid size 3'x3'; The equipment and machinery that have been transferred to Cambodia include: 01 set of GNSS; 02 electronic leveling machines and 04 computers.

Before that, in 2009, phase 1 of the project was implemented and the results were handed over to Cambodia in 2012. Phase 1 includes building a class I, II elevation network and measuring and connecting 5 GPS points in the Asia-Pacific network on the territory of Cambodia.
