The People's Committee of Can Tho City and Fujitsu Limited are collaborating to implement the Technical Assistance Project aimed at enhancing land management capacity to transform Can Tho City into a smart city. The project's objective is to develop a smart city model through digital transformation in land management.

The project, titled "Technical Assistance to Enhance Land Management Capacity for Building Can Tho City into a Smart City," has a total investment of over $28 million. Of this, $28.4 million, accounting for 98% of the total investment, is non-refundable aid from Japan's JICA organization. The remaining $580,000, representing 2% of the total investment, will come from the city's budget.

The project is scheduled to be implemented from 2025 to 2028 in Can Tho City, covering seven components: building an environmental resource information analysis and synthesis platform; developing a land management system; establishing a land information provision system; creating a financial model for sustainable development of public land services; procuring equipment; transferring technology and training to enhance staff capacity; and project management.

Speaking at a recent meeting, Vice President of International Cooperation Watatu Sudou from Fujitsu Limited emphasized the significance of the project, especially in light of the amended Land Law in Viet Nam, which will come into effect on August 1, 2024. The digitization of land data is becoming increasingly urgent for state management. Fujitsu Limited hopes that Viet Nam will complete the necessary procedures by next month.
